Tobacco Industry and Big Pharma

As far as tobacco industry is concerned, we should continue smoking until the day we die, because that would bring them profits and keep them in business. Of course, they would like us to live as long as possible and they would prefer our genetics to be superb to enable their profitability.

With a little help from pharmaceutical industry, we should have been making some attempts to quit, because big pharma wants us all healthier. Yeah, right. Ready to admit it or not, it is the economic interest of the big pharma that we continue smoking, get sick and then stay like that for a couple of years at least.

Effectiveness of pharmaceutical aids.
  • yellow = Pharmaceutical aids helped me to stop smoking permanently,...
  • blue = Pharmaceutical aids helped me to stop smoking temporarily, ...
  • purple = Pharmaceutical aids helped me to reduce the amount I smoked, but...
  • red = Pharmaceutical aids did not help me to stop smoking.

That way they can sell us chemotherapy and repeatedly so, along with beta glucans and other drugs to help us survive it with less pain.

Now that may cost anything from thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. Depending on the medical insurance system in your country and how much you can afford it – a certain part of it is financed by the government (tax payers, actually!) and the rest by individuals and their families. Whichever ratio that may be, it doesn't change the fact that big pharma is busy filling their pockets with money here. Again.

Before the worst happens, we are supposed to be busy playing the quit-smoking-big-pharma-game, with anything from the range of products they offer. It may be relatively harmless Nicorette/Nicoderm (first game level and you have just been assi... initiated). However, the effect is only temporary and you need to get serious i.e. take some junk with serious byeffects – Chantix, for instance (second level, now we are talking!). Price range – hundreds of dollars, preferably ineffective, because chemotherapy (the ultimate level!) - that is the business!

Please, understand that I am not talking about any average employee working in pharmaceutical industry, state administration or even tobacco industry. Besides, there are smokers among them, too.

What I am talking about here is the nature of the beast called greed and all their victims on both sides of the fence. It has a strong tendency to corrupt anything and anybody it touches, it won't let go if it's able not to. This is the beast polluting and exploiting the whole world.

Whether obvious or more on the subtle side, it does what it knows best – protects itself at any cost we have to pay. It acts as if trying to help us – just look at all those messages on a pack of cigarettes about harmful effects of smoking – what are they but a good joke material!

There's a good one I'm going to finish this post with and it's about a teenager buying his pack at a kiosk and it has a message on – smoking causes impotence and blah-blah. He returns to the kiosk, gives back his pack to the girl there and says – I'd have one with lung cancer, please.

Vapefully yours,
