I am sick and tired of the treatment electronic cigarettes have, especially at certain places that are touting themselves as oh-so-future-oriented. All the while nurturing hopelessly backwards attitude towards electronic cigarette, trying to keep in-line with blindfolded ideological views promoted by government agencies, anti-smoking groups and Big Pharma.
Frankly speaking, I consider smoking lesser evil when compared with some anti-smoking therapies. At least tobacco cigarettes are the evil we know. I mean, people had known it well before they started throwing bags of tax payers' money out of the window to provide for various anti-smoking crusaders and their so profusely funded organizations I am sick and tired of, too.
On Google Adwords you aren't allowed to advertise electronic cigarettes but Big and small Pharma can advertise anything, including some junk with serious side effects.
This beauty is a quote from the first page of www.chantix.com
Scroll down and enjoy:
I beg your pardon?
"Hostility, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts or ACTIONS"...and if you develop either some of that or "anxiety, panic, agression, anger, mania, abnormal sensations, hallucinations, paranoia or confusion"... "call your doctor right away".
Well, you know, there are some suicidal actions after which it is only useful to call Dr.Scarpetta.
This is the choice people have? Quit with THIS? Either smoke and risk dying of lung cancer after 20-30-40 years or take Chantix and risk killing yourself right now? After a series of hallucinations that would probably be Oscar winning if only there were cameras "inside". Ehm...what would you choose if that were the only options?
This is Dr.Siegel and his blog post on Chantix:
If you scrol down, among the comments you'll also find a testimony of a reader who used Chantix.
And can you guess which is the "Product that Has No Known Serious Adverse Effects"
Yes, you were right. It is electronic cigarette. Which is also banned as a writing theme on some oh-so-hip places.
You can't write Squidoo article like this one: "IF e-cigarettes were invented by Big Pharma". I typed my title and was immediately alloted a red alert message with a "benevolent advice" along the lines that they had so many allowed topics, and would I please choose one of them. I don't know whether they crapped their pants due to bringing up e-cigs subject (they do have some of their "lenses" on it, so I really wonder) or because someone uttered two sweet words: Big Pharma. The fact remains that they crapped their pants. Sick and tired.
On Ezinearticles you can not write about it either. Yet, they don't mind you writing about beer, for instance. But as far as e-cigarettes go, well these are on the no-no list, together with tobacco, hard alcohol, pornography and bomb making.
As if nobody can see people reporting all over the internet on beneficial effects of switching to electronic cigarette. People posting their nicotine test results, their x-rays on you tube. People successfully ridiculing articles on alleged harmful effects of electronic cigarettes, written to please the editor who had to please anyone with vested interest against e-cigarettes.
