About all this no-health-claims business – now this requirement is what you'll find on practically any US site.
It is a fact that FDA hasn't had e-cigs properly regulated yet, they are in the process of doing so and everyone in e-cig community is either writing letters or signing petitions or describing her/his vaping experience, all in hope they won't do us too much harm.
E-cig companies are asking you to make no health claims. Now, this is a bit tough one. Thing is they mustn't make a move FDA would frown upon, otherwise they may face serious consequences.
Well, I chose to say this: e-cigs are not advertised here as a smoking cessation device. Basically that's true – too many people, me included, just enjoy vaping. It's a great way to see what you can do about quitting without any pressure whatsoever.
However, I know smokers who stopped smoking altogether, me being among them, as well as smokers who considerably reduced their tobacco cigarette consumption, my husband and daughter among them. (Update March 2013: daughter and her boyfriend quit altogether and have been smoke-free for weeks. Update2 June 2013: My husband has been smoke-free for almost a week. We are 100% vapers. All of us.) And just today my hubby informed me of his colleague who first quit smoking and then also quit vaping several months ago. So, he is also nicotine free. There is no reason to keep quiet about it.
Now, if any of the above is not largely beneficial for our overall health, I don't know what is.
It's not really difficult for us affiliates to be truthful: worst that can happen to me is that some e-cig company withholds my commissions from last two weeks and suspend my account. I'll live, trust me.
However, I don't really think they would rush to do that. They aren't allowed to tell the truth, they can't afford it – investments, employees, etc, more things are at stake... but I don't believe they are seriously against affiliates spreading the truth about e-cigs. And I'm sure they won't tell on you to Google for that.
What really matters here is that companies don't want you to associate their specific brand with health claims.
I have been talking about beneficial effects of e-cigs in general all over my website, but I do not associate these with any specific brand. I don't have any special reason to do that – they all contain more or less same ingredients, anyway.
On the other hand, most of us aren't health professionals and we shouldn't act as if we were. So, if anyone with any special condition (pregnant women, people with heart conditions and similar categories) asks you whether he or she can use e-cigs, tell them to consult their doctor. Make sure you include that on your site, too.
