Newbie Corner

Clearomizers are cartomizers that use wicks instead of polyfill. Most of them are transparent  while some, like EVOD and Aspire BDC, have a small "window" for you to see how much e-liquid you have lest. They are made of special kind of plastic or pyrex glass and used mostly with mid-size ecig batteries and APVs (advanced personal vaporizers).

You can order them directly from China, but there's one problem: when you do, you never know what you'll get. I've had my share of that. Plus, chances to get a replacement are slim. Not to mention that shipping takes weeks.

Apollo ships from US an UK and they do have some good ones. Don't forget to look for their coupon codes on their front page, usually 15-20% off. Monthly code is usually in the left column. Find their pre-holiday and other temporary codes on rotating banner.

Aspire BDC

Aspire BDC clearomizer review
  • capacity 1.8ml
  • comes with 1 replaceable coil head 1.8 Ohm (2.1 ohm coil heads also available, sold in 5 packs)
  • compatible with eGo and EVOD threaded batteries
  • removable mouthpiece and bottom threaded cap

Bottom dual coil (BDC) clearomizer clearly resembles CE5; it's only a bit longer.

Bottom dual coil technology gives enhanced throat hit compared to single coil clearomizers and more vapor compared to top coil clearomizers like CE4, CE5 ViVi Nova and others. You just have to make sure that all the bottom parts (replaceable coil heads and threaded bottom cap) are tightly screwed together. For more details click the picture to read  review of this one and the one below, Aspire  BDC - Mini.

This one is specially designed for UK Smoker's Angel, other Mini BDC you can find resemble EVOD clearomizer in design.

Mini looks beautiful, has smoothly fitting threaded bottom cap and uses the same replaceable coil heads like BDC CE5.

Aspire ET-S

Aspire ET-S clearomizer

Great improvement from the first version of Aspire BDC, ET-S features glass tank with protective metal casing is much easier to fill in and looks much better overall. Also, it's usually available in more colors to help you customize the look of your vaping gear.

Clear Clearomizer 510

CC 510
  • Size: 9.2 * 45.5 mm;
  • Atomizer Resistance: 2.6 - 3.0 ohm
  • Capacity:  0.9 - 1.0 ml e-liquid
  • Lifetime: Above 10000 times

Or so they say. It would be anything at 10-20 days depending on your vaping habits. I don't know if they are making it still anywhere, it's been a long time - this was our first clearomizer. It's still there somewhere in the house.:)  Usually sold in 5 packs. You can buy 1pc if you prefer. 510 clearomizers must be filled using a syringe or needle bottle cap.

CE4  (with long wick)

CE4
  • Cartomizer capacity 1.6ml
  • Length 74mm
  • Diameter 14mm
  • Single weight 15g
  • Atomizer resistance 2.4-2.7 ohm

This one is compatible with eGo batteries. (So when buying be aware that there are eGo and KGo CE4s). A clear plastic shell - you can always see how much e-liquid you've got in the tank. It has a screw in mouthpiece which seals around the atomiser, this stops any leakages.

CE4 wickless

CE4 with hidden wicks, sold with Halo Ultra Tank

Practically the same technical info as above, only no wicks to be seen. Looks much better, has a smooth draw and is generally a very good clearomizer.

This CE4  comes with either two-week or a month warranty and is often to be found with standard eGo batteries in a kit (like with Halo Ultra Tank, a very popular starter kit  among our UK readers).

US readers can purchase it at Apollo

Vivi Nova Mini and ViVi Nova

ViVi Novas

ViVi Nova set usually contains:

  • 1pc Transparent Tank tube
  • 1pc Vivi Nova Tank Base
  • 1pc 1.8 ohm Coil Head
  • 1pc 2.4 ohm Coil Head
  • 1pc 2.8 ohm Coil head
  • 1pc Black Drip Tip

ViVi Nova Mini Tank (Long Wick) has replacable atomizer heads in 3 different resistances, which are easily removed and replaced. It also has improved long wicks for stronger flavor, throat hit and no leakage.

Easily disassembled and reassembled. The transparent tank holds up to 2.5ml ejuice.  The ViVi Nova fits most batteries with 510/eGo threading from 3.2v to 6v.

CE5 - All Kinds of

CE5s two variants

Unlike CE4, this one can be taken apart, washed thoroughly and put together again. It is sold with or without additional coil heads. It basically looks like CE4, is slightly higher because it has a base that is screwed on the shell.  With all that said, who wouldn't be confused by all new kinds of clearomizers coming to the market practically every week. I've personally come accross three different CE5s.

Here's a picture of two of them with their little differences (click to enlarge).

Kanger T4s Micromizer and Vision Nano Clearomizer

Ts4 clearomizer and Vision Nano Clearomizer on Panda Evolve Batteries (Manual and automatic)

Kanger T4s (left)

  • 0.9ml - up to 300 puffs
  • Popular 510 thread
  • Screw-on mouthpiece
  • Easy to refill without a syringe

Vision Nano (right)

  • 1ml, unique mouthpiece design
  • 510 thread
  • bottom coil
  • works wll at low voltage

Kanger T4s clearomizer is an improved version of Kanger T4. Little one, but gives plenty of vapor and mighty throat hit. It's easy to fill even without syringe and doesn't leak. The only thing that bothers me a little is a slightly rubbery feel of that black mouthpiece. Not a big deal, I just became picky.

Vision Nano is another good little clearomizer. It's the upper one in the pic. Unlike T4s, it is bottom coil and its mouthpiece feels better. However, T4s  has better performance concerning the amount of vapor and throat hit. All in all, both are recommended and even better than cc510.

You can buy them at Panda ecigs. Prices are favorable, less than $3 for Ts4 and less than $4 for Vision Nano.

Protanks 1 + 2 and Davide Mini Glassomizer

Kanger Protank, Kanger Protank 2, Mini Davide Glassomizer, pyrex glass bottom coil clearomizers

Enter glassomizers, or glass clearomizers. A nice and welcome change from plastic. My tanks fell off our tables and desks a zillion times and I lost only one Protank 2 last year.

  • bottom coil head
  • Pyrex glass
  • 510 compatible
  • 2.5ml - Protanks
  • 1.8ml - Mini Davide
  • resistance 1.8 ohm - 2.5 ohm

Kanger Protank 3 And Kanger Aerotank

Read our review of Kanger Protank 3 and Kanger Aerotank

Reviewers are raving about Aerotank, but I wasn't lucky with it... As for Protank 3, I still use and I came to quite like both 2 and 3 much.

  • bottom coil head
  • Pyrex glass
  • 510 connection threading
  • 2.5ml capacity
  • resistance - with new dual coils, the resistance is lower depending on the coil 0.8  - 1.0  - 1.2  - 1.5  - 1.8 ohm

These coils aren't compatible with earlier versions of Protanks and Davides from the previous pic.

A bit more expensive ($14-24) but worth every penny. They usually come with 1 or 2 extra coil heads and if you buy 5pack of replaceable  heads, I wouldn't say that they turn to be that expensive at all. These two brands and Evod have compatible coil heads. Click the pictures and read our reviews.

Kanger EVOD

Kanger EVOD Clearomizer

Sleek looking bottom coil clearomizer that you might like. Coil head  that comes with it (also sold in 5 packs) is compatible with Kanger's and Davide's though they look slightly different.

  • capacity: 1.8 ml
  • resistance 1.8  - 2.2  - 2.5 ohm
  • eGo threaded - compatible with all eGos and Evod batteries.

Gives smooth vapor and is easy to refill. Also, favorably priced. Only the heavier smokers might have issue with its throat hit. More on it in our Kanger EVOD Clearomizer Review - click the picture.
